A cape is the point of land where two bodies of water meet. Cape Cornwall is the only cape in England and one of only two in the UK. It marks the spot where the Atlantic currents divide and is part of the Tin Coast and Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. The cross is part of the remains of St Helen’s Oratory a tiny early Christian chapel found in a field on the cape.
