Workshop FAQs
How do I book?
Bookings can be made:
- Online at inspiremakers.com
- By phone on 01326 531176 (Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 5pm)
- In person at Inspire Makers, 5 High Street, Falmouth, TR11 2AB (Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 5pm)
How far in advance do I need to book a workshop?
As our class sizes are small to give plenty of interaction with the workshop leader, we recommend booking as soon as you see something of interest. Also, if we do not receive enough interest in a workshop, we may make the decision to cancel it. If you wait to book until the last minute we may have cancelled the session.
Can I reserve a space?
No, full payment needs to be taken to confirm your space on a workshop.
How do I find out about the workshops available?
Workshops are regularly added to our website inspiremakers.com. We will also announce them on Instagram @inspire_makers.
Why do you need my phone number and email when I make a booking?
We need an email address to send your confirmation of booking. We also send a reminder email just before your class to make sure you haven’t forgotten. Also, sometimes things go wrong, tutors are unwell or we may have to postpone so we ask for a phone number and an email to make sure you know in plenty of time. All data is treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
How accessible are your workshops?
Entrance is via the Inspire Makers shop. The workshop space is on the ground floor, however there is step up from the shop to the back rooms. As it is a Grade II listed building, some doorways and spaces are narrow and may not be suitable for wheelchair users. Assistance will always be given to any attendee with mobility issues. Please let us know in advance if you will need extra space or help so we can ensure things are ready for you.
Do I need any experience?
Most of our workshops are introductory level and require absolutely no prior knowledge so please don’t worry! Our sessions are taught by tutors who are expecting a mixture of experience, abilities and confidence. If a workshop is for those with a bit more prior experience we will make it very clear in the title, description and on the booking page. The most important thing is we want everyone to feel comfortable, so if you are not sure, please contact us.
Do I need to bring anything?
In most cases, all the materials needed will be supplied. There are sometimes exceptions to this and if this the case they will be listed on the website. We also send this information in your booking confirmation and reminder email.
How many people do you have in a workshop?
We like to keep our workshops small and friendly, so there are usually around 4-6 people, depending on the activity.
What if I need to cancel?
If you book a workshop and need to cancel, you can do so within 14 days of booking and receive a full refund, providing this is not within 30 days of the workshop taking place. Refunds will be made using the same method of payment as used for the initial transaction.
Should you need to cancel after 14 days but more than 30 days before the workshop taking place, we will do our very best to fill your space and, should this be possible, offer you a full refund, a voucher for a future date, or an alternative workshop date.
No refunds or transfers will be given should you need to cancel within 30 days of the workshop taking place.
What happens if I miss a class due to being unwell – will I get a refund?
Unfortunately, no refunds or transfers are available within 30 days of a workshop date. You are welcome to send someone in your place. Please call us in advance to arrange this.
Can I turn up to a workshop on the day?
Sadly no, although if you join our mailing list, we’ll send you details of any last-minute availability. Or you can call on the morning of a desired workshop to see if we still have spaces.
What happens if you cancel a workshop?
In the unlikely event of us cancelling a workshop you will offered a full refund or an alternative date. We will give you as much notice as possible but cannot be held responsible for pre-booked travel and accommodation arrangements.
Please note: We run our workshops based on the number of people booked, and reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a class where there are insufficient numbers to make the session viable.
Do you have parking?
There is no parking available on the High Street itself. There may be spaces in the surrounding streets but it will be very limited and/or short stay, therefore we recommend parking in one of the town car parks. Town Quarry car park is a long stay car park and the closest to the shop, approximately a 6 minute walk.
Will refreshments be provided?
Light refreshments are available such as tea, coffee, squash etc. No lunches are provided so if you are booked onto a full day workshop you will need to bring a packed lunch or visit one of the food outlets nearby.
Eating and drinking may not be allowed in the workshop space depending on the class. You will be informed of any restrictions at the beginning of the session.
Are your workshops suitable for children?
Due to the nature of the tools and materials used, our workshops are only suitable for those over the age of 16.
Can I buy workshop gift vouchers?
You can buy gift vouchers online which can be used for shop or workshop purchases. They need to be redeemed within 12 months of purchase. These are not valid for Porth Jewellery workshops which can only be booked on the Porth Jewellery website via the links provided. Porth Jewellery sell gift vouchers directly which can be used for those workshops.
I’m still worried about COVID-19 – what precautions are in place?
You can wash your hands with soap and hot running water on arrival if you would like to, and as many times as you like during the session.
The toilet, studio sink area, and kitchenette, are all equipped with anti-bacterial hand-wash. Paper towels are provided. They are all cleaned between classes.
Tea, coffee, soft drinks etc are provided as part of your workshop. Please feel free to bring your own refreshments, mug, glass etc. There is a fridge you are welcome to use.
There is no requirement to wear a mask however you are welcome to do so.
Can I attend a workshop if I have Covid-19?
You must NOT attend your workshop:
- if you have symptoms of Covid-19, and/or have recently tested positive for Covid-19.
- if someone in your household has symptoms, and/or has recently tested positive for Covid-19.
- you are required to self-isolate.
Please call or email us to let us know you cannot attend as soon as possible.
