Falmouth’s Cultural Scene

Falmouth is a melting pot borne from a love of the sea and a love of art and design. With a rich maritime history (Falmouth has the third largest natural harbour in the world), and the School of Art (founded in 1902), many of the festivals have grown from a celebration of this heritage.

We’ll point you in the direction of the famous Sea Shanty, Richard Mille Cup Yacht Racing, Oyster Festival, and more – if your sea legs can take it. For the art lovers, Makers Cornwall, Open Studios, and a whole host of markets, will introduce you to Cornish artists and artisans and are not to be missed!

Music and Art Festivals in Falmouth

Sea Shanty Festival, 13th-15th June 2025

Falmouth’s Sea Shanty Festival is the largest free nautical music and song festival in Europe! With a long history as the first safe port of call for deepwater sailing ships, sea shanties were work songs sung aboard ships and fishing vessels.

The Falmouth Sea Shanty taps into our Cornish roots, and the three-day festival with performances from around 80 groups across various venues makes for a brilliant atmosphere. The famous Fisherman’s Friends, and the Oggymen, are often the lead acts, and combined with food stalls, arts and crafts stands, and raucous beer tents, a good time is had by all.
