What will I learn?

In this workshop Amy will take you through and demonstrate various techniques to explore the translucent properties of porcelain. Working with thin slabs you will have the opportunity to create a unique set of translucent Tealight Holders.

Using different textured rollers and materials from nature you will decorate pre-rolled porcelain slabs and learn how to transform them into a beautiful set of porcelain tealight holders to give as gifts or to treasure yourself.

The pieces will be fired and returned to Inspire Makers within a month. You can collect them from there or for a small fee they can be posted to you.

What do I need to bring?

Everything you need will be provided but if you have any interesting natural elements that you might like to use to create texture feel free to bring along.

Aprons are available for you to use however, as clay is involved, you may wish to wear clothes that can get messy!

About your tutor

Amy Cooper has been working with translucent porcelain for over 20 years and is still enthralled by its properties. She is inspired by light, life and stories and is known for her delicate nature inspired porcelain lighting. She studied Ceramics and Sculpture at Falmouth and Wolverhampton Universities and has been a professional maker ever since. She runs Amy Cooper Ceramics with her husband Gareth from their studio in Tresillian near Truro.

Entrance is via the Inspire Makers shop. The workshop space is on the ground floor, however there is a step up from the shop to the back rooms. As it is a Grade II listed building, some doorways and spaces are narrow and may not be suitable for wheelchair users.
