Creative Art Workshops in Cornwall
Have you ever wanted to learn new skills or try different crafts? Are you curious about how artists and makers do what they do?
Our workshop programme offers a wide range of “kitchen table” based classes to inspire you to find your creative path. The kitchen table is where most makers start after all!
The classes are designed to give you an introduction to various artforms, through half or full day sessions, and give you the confidence to carry on exploring at home without needing a large outlay on equipment or materials.
Not sure you are creative? Perhaps you haven’t found the right class, the right environment or the right outlet for your imagination. Inspire Makers believes everyone can be creative in some way. Our programme assumes no prior knowledge or ability and encourages you to have a go with a small group of like-minded people.
Classes are held by makers showcased in the shop, offering you a chance to learn more about them, what inspires them and what they create.

Description
Come and have a go at making your own set of three silver stacking rings, or a silver bangle with charms, to treasure and show off to your friends and family.
What will I learn?
Rings (£75): You will be taught how to size ring bands; saw, file and solder; shape your rings and finally add texture. Your rings will then be polished whist you enjoy a drink. There will be a range of silver wires to choose from including beaded wire. The widest band you can make in this session will be 2.3mm wide due to the complexity and time available. There are 7 designs to choose to make – the hardest part will be choosing which three to make!
Bangle (£80): You will be taught how to size a bangle; saw, file and solder; add texture and shape your bangle. Within the session you should be able to make more than one charm depending on the complexity of your chosen design. Everything will be made by hand with no pre-bought pieces. The standard bangle will be made from 2mm wire, however if you prefer a chunkier bangle then you can upgrade to 4mm wide wire for a small supplement.
If you would like to make the rings or bangle for someone else, you will need to know their size before you arrive. Sizes cannot be changed after the workshop.
What do I need to bring?
The cost of the workshop covers tuition and all materials required as well as tea, coffee, soft drinks etc.
Don’t forget your reading glasses if you need them as there is a lot of close up work!
What should I wear?
Due to the nature of the tools and materials used in the class you are required to wear sturdy, closed toed shoes. Hair must be tied back and please do not wear loose clothing or scarves; you may not want to get your nails done before the session!
About your tutor
Laura Talbot started Porth Jewellery in Summer 2018 after many happy hours ‘playing’ in her friends’ silversmith studio. She now works from her home studio in Falmouth creating unique pieces from specially selected seaglass uncovered during her beachcombing trips.
Accessibility
Entrance is via the Inspire Makers shop. The workshop space is on the ground floor, however there is a step up from the shop to the back rooms. As it is a Grade II listed building, some doorways and spaces are narrow and may not be suitable for wheelchair users.
Please contact us before booking if you have any physical limitations which might impede your participation in and enjoyment of the class.
