Zoe Howarth
“It all started with a love affair with the ocean and a passion for texture and patterns found in Cornwall’s rocks and cliff faces. Plus a deep love of the process, of building and constructing pieces by hand, working out how to put them together and creating a thing that didn’t exist before.”
Zoe Howarth is a self-taught silversmith with a background in textile design. She lives in Porthleven’s small, picturesque fishing village with her family and works from her home studio. Her sterling silver designs are an expression of love for the Cornish coastline.
Having lived in Cornwall since she was 5, she headed to London to study Art and Design at the London College of Fashion, and later Textile Design at Falmouth University. She then started her creative career in the textile design industry. After starting a family, she followed her passion for constructing forms and playing with textures.
After taking an evening class in silversmithing, she experimented at home, building her creative knowledge and skills to refine her technical process. Her current collections combine gold and silver with contrasting textures inspired by the Cornish coastline.
