Washed and Found
Viki of Washed and Found is inspired to make jewellery people can be proud of, visually and environmentally, to help keep the conversation alive and spark more ideas and action.
Her work concentrates on the use of light and colour reflection using plastic particles and fishing nets set in bio-resin. The simple, bold, wearable shapes are created individually and designed to hold a handful of sea plastic. Each piece of Washed and Found jewellery is either sanded to give the appearance of sea glass or polished to reveal its true identity.
Viki lives in Bristol with her husband and three young boys. She makes regular trips to Cornwall and North Devon to gather more plastic, swim, surf and paddle board.
Ocean Plastic Jewellery
“Beach Cleans To Bangles”
Introducing Washed and Found’s exquisite ocean plastic jewellery collection, where the enchantment of the sea is transformed into captivating bangles. Each piece in this collection tells a unique story, starting from the sandy shores of Cornish and North Devon beaches. Through dedicated beach cleans, Washed and Found hand-collects plastic particles and discarded fishing nets that have been washed ashore. These remnants, which once threatened the ocean’s delicate ecosystem, are now repurposed into stunning bangles embodying conservation and creativity.
Ocean Plastic Bracelet
All the bangles are individual. Each one is created with its own colour pallet. Made up of worn sea plastic pebble shapes or fishing nets with hooks and beads. Amongst other things! Each one contains approximately a handful of found plastic. Some are polished to see inside, and others may allow the colours to merge together. By hand sanding each piece, I can work with the colours and the effects. When given a rub with olive oil or put in water, each one has a unique quality where the contents can be easily seen, and the true make-up of the bangle is clear.
Ocean Plastic Necklace
Each necklace is unique and will have a perfectly rounded side and a sanded side where bubbles can form. This is due to the nature of the way they are made. They are smooth to the touch and have a pebble or sea glass-like finish. Perfect gift for someone who loves the sea and wants to be part of something positive to help reduce the ocean plastic crisis.
