Studio Agni

Funda Ersoysal is a ceramicist and founder of Studio Agni in Cornwall. Studio Agni is more than a studio — it’s a communal space where she teaches, shares, and invites others to experience clay as a grounding, creative force.

The space brings together a diverse community of artists and makers who share a passion for craftsmanship and sustainability. They are committed to sourcing materials ethically and minimising environmental impact. Funda’s dedication to craftsmanship and care ensures that every piece feels personal, purposeful, and connected to its origins.

Slow-made, hand-shaped ceramics

After more than a decade in the design industry, Funda returned to clay for its honesty, stillness, and connection to the body. Each piece is made slowly by hand — without moulds or mass production — allowing the material to guide its own quiet evolution. She focusses on natural forms, muted palettes, and textures that honour the rawness of matter.

Growing up in Turkey, Funda learned early on how food and shared meals bring people together, shaping her understanding of connection and community. This influence is central to her work, where each piece is designed to enhance the rituals of daily living and encourage mindful moments.

Our Favourite Pieces

Each piece is beautifully handmade and unique, we have selected a few of our favourites to show you.

Born from earth, guided by instinct

Her practice draws from her Turkish heritage, the ancient Cornish landscape, and a deep respect for raw materials and the process of making.

Homewares rooted in a sense of place and primitive simplicity

Funda uses local St Agnes Clay to produce homeware and dinnerware that supports a more intentional way of living.
